Americans are a bunch of stupid, ADD-afflicted twats, and any shiny, flashy thing will distract them. So even though Palin is a political lightweight, incapable of offering substance on any critical issue, and even though she stretches the truth a bit (Bridge to Nowhere, governor's plane on eBay, etc.), Americans will vote for her like crazy because she's a (pretty) shiny, flashy thing.
